Pages of Book

Stylistic Editing

Edits for clarity, coherence, flow, and suitable word usage. Also includes edits for consistency of mood, tone, style and author's voice. Stylistic editing improves paragraph and sentence construction to ensure content is clear for the reader.

Structural Editing

Ensures logical organization and content. Clarifies plot, characters, and thematic elements. Content may be restructured or reformatted to improve the reader's comprehension of the text.

Content is checked to ensure all third-party permissions are honoured.

Laptop

Proofreading

Final stage before manuscript is published. Checks for spelling mistakes, consistency of elements (such as references, captions, running heads), and compliance to design and/or style guide. Please note: proofreading a manuscript occurs after editing; it is not a substitute for editing.

Magnifying Glass

Copyediting

A thorough edit that includes: mechanical edits (punctuation, capitalization, spelling, or any other style rules), correlating parts of the manuscript, language edits, content edits, and permissions. In a nutshell, copyeditors check for correctness, accuracy, consistency and completeness.
